Camp Out Jan. 14 - 15, 2011

This January we camped out at Brother Bowie's house. Jason, Caleb, and Mike Disman, KC, Jake, Trey, and Virgil Landry, David Welch and Brother Bowie were there. The camp out got going around 5:30 and we ate our polecat stew around 7:00. (If you're wondering what polecat stew is then you are in for a treat. Each person brings a can or two from their pantry to contribute to the stew. No matter what it is, it goes in, even if it is artichoke hearts or some other "interesting" item. This time ours included some stew meat, chicken, diced green chilies, corn, green beans, chili beans, and I can't remember what else. It turned out great.)

The boys played a bit of sardines Friday night and we all went to bed after that.

Saturday morning was preceded by an off and on, all night, rain. However, it was not a downpour but a drizzle. The morning was started with hot cocoa followed by breakfast tacos. We then tried a little fishing, but the fish got the best of us. Sorry, but I don't have any pics of the fishing.

We then did some shooting down in the creek. Brother Bowie provided the pistols and we had a good time shooting. We concluded Saturday morning with a GPS session. After we figured out exactly how to use it I took a bottle cap and hid it away from the camp. The boys took turns finding it with the GPS. They, we, really enjoyed this. Sorry, no pics of the GPS either.

Hazy morning.

KC. Why is his mouth open?

Good thing Jake is an honest person, with his hood pulled over his head he looks a bit shady.

A special thank you goes out to Brother Bowie. He was a gracious host for this camp out and has a beautiful place. One of the boys even mentioned that this was the best camp out ever.
