For this weeks combined activity this week we tried out a game that Sister Welch got for Christmas. Apples to Apples. It was a good time for all.

Camp Out Jan. 14 - 15, 2011
This January we camped out at Brother Bowie's house. Jason, Caleb, and Mike Disman, KC, Jake, Trey, and Virgil Landry, David Welch and Brother Bowie were there. The camp out got going around 5:30 and we ate our polecat stew around 7:00. (If you're wondering what polecat stew is then you are in for a treat. Each person brings a can or two from their pantry to contribute to the stew. No matter what it is, it goes in, even if it is artichoke hearts or some other "interesting" item. This time ours included some stew meat, chicken, diced green chilies, corn, green beans, chili beans, and I can't remember what else. It turned out great.)
The boys played a bit of sardines Friday night and we all went to bed after that.
Saturday morning was preceded by an off and on, all night, rain. However, it was not a downpour but a drizzle. The morning was started with hot cocoa followed by breakfast tacos. We then tried a little fishing, but the fish got the best of us. Sorry, but I don't have any pics of the fishing.
We then did some shooting down in the creek. Brother Bowie provided the pistols and we had a good time shooting. We concluded Saturday morning with a GPS session. After we figured out exactly how to use it I took a bottle cap and hid it away from the camp. The boys took turns finding it with the GPS. They, we, really enjoyed this. Sorry, no pics of the GPS either.
Hazy morning.
A special thank you goes out to Brother Bowie. He was a gracious host for this camp out and has a beautiful place. One of the boys even mentioned that this was the best camp out ever.

2010 New Years Eve Gala
This year with New Years Eve being on a Friday, it was decided that we would have a party to celebrate the beginning of 2011. Due to the age demographic of the Branch it was also decided to celebrate with our Chilean brothers in Santiago. They rolled in the new year at 9 p.m. Madisonville time. The food of choice was hot dogs. Of course lots of other side dishes and desserts were brought too.
Games of all kinds were the entertainment most got involved in, but a dance or two broke out from time to time.
Below are some of the pictures of the event. I will attempt to call those in the pictures by name when I know it, but please excuse my memory. (Let me know who are the ones left out and I can add them.)
KC helping Richard in a game of Twister.
Katrina, Evelynn, and Emma Pickering practice their surgical skills by "operating" on Buzz Lightyear.
With Preston Foster in this picture and KC looking so much like me, I thought I was back at
A & M in Mormon Acres playing dominoes. Lynita Foster, KC, and Brother Burr.
Earl and Janie Landry as well as Sister Murders have been know to play a mean game of Phase 10. Sister Blair looks like she's holding her own.
